The Palace Theater

The Palace was built and opened in 1925 at the peak of the heyday for American movie palaces. It was originally part of a small family of theatres owned and operated by Adam C. Baker, a dashing Hawaiian gentleman who was the nephew of the last royal governors of the island of Hawaii. The Palace Theater is located in the heart of Hilo’s charming downtown, just steps from Hilo Bay. With its neoclassic façade, spacious lobby, and vintage architectural details, it stands as one of Hawaii’s most impressive structures. The Palace Theater is the only downtown venue with a 500-seat capacity, and it boasts a state-of-the-art video projection system, Dolby Surround, and superb acoustics for live events. One of the most enchanting, thrilling and nostalgic experiences is enjoying the music of the original Robert-Morton pipe organ in concert or during a movie presentation.
